How is the proofreading performed?

Identification

Before proofreading the text, its character is analyzed to determine if major revisions and/or fact-checking are necessary. If the text has been machine-translated, a cross-check (source-target review) is conducted.

Proofreading

The process always begins with a thorough reading of the text to gain an overview of what needs to be corrected. Initially, spelling errors and obvious grammatical mistakes are corrected. If a specific spelling is preferred, those preferences are adhered to.

Grammar Check

After reviewing the text, punctuation and syntax are checked to ensure that the text is structured and uses the correct punctuation marks. If unusual or outdated words and expressions are discovered, suitable alternatives are suggested.

Localisation

Adapting to the recipient is crucial, so the tone is maintained consistently throughout the text. If there are specific requests regarding the tone, these are accommodated. Once the text has been corrected, it is read through one more time.

Quality Assurance

Before the final formatting of the text, a quality control is performed. If the text does not meet a satisfactory level according to the assessment, it is sent back to the previous phase. During the quality control, consistency in word choice throughout the text is also ensured.

Formatting

The text is always formatted before delivery. Uniform typography is maintained, margins are adjusted, and paragraph divisions are made clear. If the material is intended for a website, a responsive design is also ensured.
